How Does Cosmetic Acupuncture Work?

Cosmetic acupuncture is a pampering facial treatment which is becoming more and more popular as the natural alternative to invasive injections, fillers and chemical treatments.  This highly effective treatment aims to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and brighten skin tone.

 

Ultra-fine needles are used to stimulate cells that lie deep within the dermis layer resulting in the production of new collagen and elastin; the key building blocks of the skin that naturally deplete with age.

Stress, anxiety, lack of sleep and digestive issues can take a toll on the way we look and feel, so my bespoke treatment aims to restore your natural radiance and vitality and improve your general health and wellbeing.

What Does The Treatment Involve?

 

The initial session starts with a consultation to discuss your health, diet and main areas of  concern.

I then carry out a tongue and pulse diagnosis as they reflect your internal state; indicating signs of imbalance or disharmony that may be affecting you. Traditional acupuncture points are then used on the body to regain a healthier balance.

Moving onto your facial: all products are organic and vegan and I will begin by gently cleansing your face and neck, before inserting a number of ultra fine needles to lift and tone your facial muscles and increase circulation.  Cosmetic acupuncture needles are then inserted into any fine lines and wrinkles that you would like to improve the appearance of.  Once the needles are in place, all you need to do is relax and let the needles work their magic.

If you have opted for the addition of LED light therapy, this will now be applied.  This non-invasive device emits wavelengths of light to stimulate collagen production to effectively reduce the signs of ageing.  Light therapy can also be used to reduce inflammation and for the effective treatment of acne.

​

Once the needles are removed, the treatment ends with a relaxing facial massage. Using a combination of  gua sha and facial cupping,  muscle tension is relieved and blood flow is increased leaving you with a radiant glow.  

Every 4th treatment, I will carry out micro-needling using a medical grade derma roller to stimulate collagen and elastin production, leaving your skin tighter and plumper. Micro-needling also promotes cell renewal, thereby reducing the appearance of scars and lifting hyper-pigmentation.

Micro-needling is followed by a soothing and rejuvenating hyaluronic acid face mask with either anti-ageing, anti-inflammation or anti-pigmentation effect.  To ensure maximum absorption, a Rose Quartz or Jade roller is gently rolled over your skin providing a gentle massage for a healthy glow.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

For maximum effectiveness a complete course of 6-12 treatments are recommended, though after just one treatment your skin will look noticeably brighter and healthier.

​

It is best to think of cosmetic acupuncture as planting a seed for future results.  Even though you will look refreshed immediately following treatment, the real results are happening beneath the skin.  Your body will be busy producing collagen and regenerating fresh healthy cells that can take up to 6 weeks to reach the surface.
